Humphrey's Corner is a design and story led property about a charming little elephant who lives with his parents, big sister Lottie and baby brother Jack in a world waiting to be discovered. Created by children's illustrator Sally Hunter, Humphrey has quickly gained recognition and success both in greeting cards and books. Sally's own children have been the inspiration for the characters in the story - watching them as they learn about life and capturing their world of wonderment and innocence. Sally is keen that Humphrey and his family are associated with good things - preserving a child's birthright by creating an enviroment where imagination can thrive, in touch with nature, colour, fairy stories, wholesome food and lots of love. Humphrey is ideally suited to the Baby and Toddler market (0-3 years) as well as the aspirational gift and adult market. In the UK, Mothercare have been a key retail partner on a range of co-ordinated clothing, bedding, bathtime goods and accessories. Boots and independents have also experienced significant success with Humphrey. Humphrey's Corner has the true potential to become a highly successful long term classic property. Humphrey's Corner is a design led property featuring a gentle little elephant called Humphrey. Humphrey lives in a Victorian house, in a small English town with his Mummy, Daddy, big Sister Lottie and baby Brother Jack. Humphrey's Corner was created by Sally Hunter drawing on her own childhood memories and experiences of being a Mum to create a child-like world of innocence and nostalgia. Lottie, Humphrey and Baby Jack are all based on the personalities of Sally's three children at ages 5, 3 and 1. Favourite toys, clothes and even the children's bedrooms appear in the work, all helping to create a range of true to life scenarios that parents and children alike will recognise. Humphrey's Corner first launched in the UK in 1997 as a range of greetings cards after Sally secured a licensing arrangement with Woodmansterne Publishing Limited. The new range of Humphreys Corner greeting cards was successfully launched at the International Spring Fair and soon became established as a popular property. In addition to the positive impression made within the greetings card industry, the launch also attracted interest from Penguin Books, Golden Bear Gifts and Jarrold Publishing. By May 1998 licencing agreements were in place resulting in the publication of the first book - 'Humphrey's Corner' together with calendars, stationery and a range of plush toys. As the property became more established, Humphrey's Corner appointed The Sharpe Company, a licensing specialist, to ensure the effective management of the brand's future development. The involvement of The Sharpe Company resulted in a structured licensing strategy and a significant increase in the brand's presence within the UK and overseas.
